How does City Seamless price a gutter job?
City Seamless prices a gutter job by the foot: about $10 to $15 for each foot of seamless aluminum gutter and about $10 to $15 for each foot of downspout, installed. We add the feet of gutter along the roof edge to the feet of downspout down the wall and multiply. The elbows, corners and end caps the job needs are worked into that rate.
A one-story downspout is about 10 feet. So a house that needs 80 feet of gutter and three downspouts has 110 feet in it, and at $10 to $15 a foot that is $1,100 to $1,650. Our typical job this year is about $1,250.
Where a house lands between $10 and $15 comes down to the material and how hard the installation is. Cody puts the low end this way: "$10 a foot is the price I typically quote when folks decide to do the whole house and the installers can bada bing, bada boom it." A single short run, a roofline with a lot of corners, a run that is hard to reach or a second story sits higher. Why do we give prices over the phone?
We give prices over the phone because most gutter jobs can be priced from the feet and the downspouts, and you should not have to take an afternoon off to learn a number. In Cody's words: "I'm happy to even quote people over the phone, typically. I'm a busy person myself, and I'm not here to waste people's time."
On a call he is working out "how long, how tall, and how many downspouts and corners." He will usually ask you to text photos of the house, and with those, he says, "I can usually give an exact price over the phone."

Why are two quotes for the same house so far apart?
Two quotes for the same house are usually far apart because they are not for the same work. These are the differences to check for.
- Which feet were counted. One company quotes "per foot of gutter" with the downspouts folded in. Another counts gutter and downspout feet separately. A third gives one total. The house above, with 80 feet of gutter and 110 feet counting its downspouts, is $1,100 to $1,650 either way. Divided by the 80 feet of gutter alone, that same job is about $13.75 to $20.60 per foot of gutter.
- The size of the gutter. A 6-inch gutter carries more water than a 5-inch gutter and uses more metal. Of our 123 new-gutter jobs this year, 116 were 6-inch. See 5-inch and 6-inch gutters compared.
- The thickness of the metal. We use .032-gauge aluminum on every residential job. Thinner .027-gauge aluminum costs less and dents and warps more easily in Las Vegas heat.
- The downspouts. How many there are, what size they are and where they let the water out all change the price and how well the system works. See where downspouts should drain.
- Seamless or sectional. A seamless gutter is one continuous piece for each run, made at the house. Sectional gutter comes in short lengths joined together, and each joint is a place to leak.
- What was left out. Taking down old gutters, fascia repair, painting and leaf screen may be in one quote and missing from the next. We usually include taking down the old gutters in our price.
What should be written on a gutter quote?
A gutter quote should say enough that a second company could price the same work. Check each quote for the items below. The last column is what City Seamless does as a standard.

If a quote is one number with none of this behind it, ask for the details before you compare it with anything.
How do you compare a per-foot price with a whole-job price?
Turn every quote into a total for the same work, then compare the totals.
- Write down the feet of gutter and the number of downspouts each quote covers. If two quotes cover different edges of the house, they are not the same job.
- For a per-foot price, ask whether it is per foot of gutter only or per foot of gutter and downspout. Multiply it out to a total.
- Add anything priced on its own line, such as removal of old gutters or leaf screen.
- Check that the size and the metal match. A 5-inch quote and a 6-inch quote are different products.
- Compare the totals, and then the warranty.
If a company will not say what size and thickness of gutter it is quoting, you have nothing to compare its price against.
Is the lowest gutter quote the right one to take?
Take the lowest quote that covers the same work, and not automatically the lowest number. A low number built on thinner metal, a smaller gutter or fewer downspouts is a different job, and the difference shows up in the first hard monsoon storm.
On price itself, Cody puts it this way: "We're usually either the cheapest or very close to the least expensive in terms of bids." He says there are companies we beat by about half most of the time. That is his view from the bids we take part in. It is not a promise about any one house, so get our number and compare it.
What we do not do is thin the metal to reach a price. The .032-gauge aluminum and the made-at-your-house seamless runs are the same on a small job as on a large one, and every installation carries a 30-year material warranty and a 5-year workmanship guarantee.
What makes one house cost more than another at the same rate?
At the same rate per foot, one house costs more than another because it has more feet in it or more work per foot. More roof edge is more gutter, and these add to it:
- Two stories. A downspout on a two-story wall is about 20 feet instead of 10, so each one counts double.
- Corners. Each inside or outside corner is cut, joined and sealed by hand.
- Short runs. With the downspouts folded in, runs under 40 feet typically come to about $20 per foot of gutter and runs of 150 feet and up to about $15 per foot of gutter. That is the other way of counting, not the $10 to $15 rate.
- The minimum. Our usual minimum for a small job is $375, or $325 when the job is really small. For repeat customers it is $185.
- Extras. Leaf screen ran about $3.30 to $5 per foot on most jobs we added it to this year. Copper, custom box gutters and repairs are priced by the job.
What should you have ready when you call?
Have the address and a rough idea of which edges you want guttered, and we can usually price it on the call. These help:
- The address of the house
- Which roof edges you want guttered, or the feet if you measured them
- Whether the house is one story or two
- About how many corners those edges have
- Photos of the roofline and of any place where water is staining the stucco, washing out rock or pooling by the foundation
- Whether there are old gutters on the house now
